NEWS! I'm delighted to be able to post, at last, information about the graduate seminar on Art Spiegelman that I'll be teaching at CSUN this upcoming semester, Fall 2014.
That course, English 620AS, launches on August 25, and goes to December 15. I've just posted a description of the course, as well as a list of course requirements and a list of required texts.
Through a combination of in-class and online discussion, in-class presentations, a tracing project, and a final seminar paper, students will get a solid ground in comics studies and become experts in Spiegelman's work and influence.
This is the third graduate course on comics that I've taught at CSUN, following courses on Los Bros Hernandez (2012) and Comics and the Novel (2009).
